the Boluan Sholak Cultural & Sports Palace

The first coordination visit to Kazakhstan for the AIBA World Boxing Championships Almaty 2013 started on Monday 13 May. Meetings were held with the Local Organizing Committee, which is supervised by the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation, local authorities and the Ministry of Sports.

The delegation then visited the Boluan Sholak Cultural & Sports Palace. This will be the venue for the Championships which are due to take place between October 12th and 26th. With a capacity of 3,725 spectators, the sports arena is located in the center of Almaty City. A number of nearby hotels that are being used by the delegation during the Championships were also visited to ensure that the event's logistics run as smoothly as possible in this busy city.

Visits to further hotels and training facilities are also planned in an effort to guarantee that Almaty is ready to host such a major AIBA Competition.
